We left Walla Walla, WA the morning of July 1st and arrived back home in Walla Walla on July 31st.  One whole month on the road! We ended up visiting 30 states and the District of Columbia in 31 days, and travelled almost 8000 miles. It was a great family experience and although I still don’t have a job, there are several leads to follow up on. I have decided to compile a list of things I learned on the trip:  1) The …

The last couple days have been very nostalgic. I lived in Newark, Ohio when I was younger and my grandparents lived in St. Louis, Missouri.  We have been able to stop by both cities and the kids really enjoyed seeing monumental locations from my childhood.  It has been so fun for me to recollect and share experiences with my family.  In St. Louis we were able to visit the Gateway Archa fun science museum  and have the best frozen custard in …

We left Philadelphia early yesterday morning to drive to New York City.  There were several things we talked about doing in New York, but decided the kids just needed some time to run and play so Central Park was our place. We spent several hours there and we all had a great time.  Lots of awesome playgrounds that the kids loved. We also enjoyed driving around New York and getting honked at. Anyone from Walla Walla who complains about the …

Fabulous Day in Philly

http://www.roadtripjobsearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/100_1991-300x225.jpg

So we are lucky to be in Philadelphia during a huge heat wave. Today was an absolute scorcher.  It was well over 100 degrees today and the humidity made it feel even hotter. That didn’t stop us from being interviewed from the local CBS news crew. The interview aired this evening, and we appreciate the time they gave us. They were great. The following is a link to the interview: http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2011/07/22/washington-native-embarks-on-summer-road-trip-in-search-for-work-stops-in-philadelphia/ Despite the heat I was able to make some good …

Another Day in the Beautiful South

http://www.roadtripjobsearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/100_1923-300x225.jpg

We left Athens, Georgia this morning and our first stop was Greenville, South Carolina. What a beautiful city! We took the kids to the zoo in Greenville and then went downtown and to the water falls. The kids had a great time hiking around by the water.  I was able to make some  job contacts before we headed to our next stop, the U.S. National Whitewater Center just outside Charlotte, North Carolina.  What a fun place!  Ryan and I had such …

What a Day!

http://www.roadtripjobsearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/100_1887-300x225.jpg

It is always special for me to visit locations where world altering events took place.  Yesterday was a very special day in that regard. We were able to visit the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, AL and visit several historic sites related to the Civil Rights movement. A little later we visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta, GA.  As a father I try to teach my kids the importance of doing the right thing regardless of the …

On The Road Again

http://www.roadtripjobsearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/100_1863-300x225.jpg

After spending a great week in Houston, we left this morning to continue our road trip.  It was fun to spend time with family in the Houston area and I was also able to have a few good job interviews so it was a very successful week.  The plan for today was to drive to New Orleans, LA and spend the night there. We spent a couple hours walking around the French Quarter which I really enjoyed.  I love  walking …

The last couple of days in Houston have been exciting.  Yesterday we started our day at 4:30 a.m. when Channel 2 news in Houston came to the house to interview us.  It was great to get our story some extra exposure and we had many people visit the website and leave comments as a result.  The interviews can be seen at:  http://www.click2houston.com/hot-button/28508322/detail.html and  http://www.click2houston.com/video/28506987/index.html So today I spent a few hours in downtown Houston going from business to business handing …
